Why do some believers in the Lord backslide? It goes back to the same reason mentioned in our previous post, "the reason why they got saved in the first place."

Believers who got saved for the right reasons have Joy and Peace in believing as mentioned in the book of Romans chapter 15 and section 13. They know that the righteousness of Christ is going to deliver them from the wrath to come.

People who have accepted salvation for the wrong reasons keep taking the Savior off each time they are faced with challenges. They blame the Creator for all delays in the breakthroughs they are expecting. They do not accept any misfortune or challenge that may come their way. They assume the presence of God means a flawless life, so they do not even apply effort to fight for their salvation or to defend their beliefs.


People who have accepted the Savior for the wrong reasons believe the Faith walk is only authentic if things are going their way and they feel no pain at all. They blame the Creator for any form of challenge and are quick to throw Him down if they feel He hasn't intervened within their scheduled times.

However, those that get saved and put on Christ for the right reasons understand the grand goal. If anything, challenges in life actually cause them to cling to the Saviour even more. Challenges in life remind them of how weak they are and can not do without the help of the saviour.
Pain and challenges remind them of the even greater wrath of the Creator against sin that they will be delivered from for taking on and following Christ.

When tribulations hit you, when your Faith walk gets bumpy, when things do not go your way, do not be angry with God, do not lose your joy and peace, if anything, get closer to your Savior, you have already been delivered from the wrath to come because you took on the righteousness of Christ.

What have you made of your challenges and delayed breakthroughs? Have you not misdirected your offence and denied the Lord who has been opening His arms all along to deliver you?
