The Mystery Of Salvation | A Better Law That Conquers Sin (Part 6)

We have learnt in our previous post that sin has one key definition, which is a violation of the law of God. This refers to violation of commandments as well as all the various key laws that the Creator has issued out from the beginning.

Now, it is the law that has become the place of contention amongst various religious circles. Do we keep it or do we discard it and blindly assume a dispensation of Grace which is a whole lot much easier.

Alongside this, is also the undeniable fact amongst various religious sects that even those who preach against keeping the law and moving to Grace still emphasize and reinforce the law in their pulpits indirectly as they declare and publish their beliefs to humanity. So they charge humanity not to break the law by continuing in corrupt deeds, they implore people to stop adulterous deeds, they condemn thievery and all other bad deeds which are breaking of the law. And any who be found in these deeds is deemed to be in sin, which is breaking the law.

So then the question comes if we are under Grace, which place does the law occupy? Why do preachers still preach against breaking the law even after obtaining Grace?

What is the purpose of the law?

The law does one thing which no other doctrine does. Like the author of Psalms puts it across, "The law of God is perfect, converting the sinner". It is only by the law that we can be said to be guilty or non-guilty. According to the author James, we are convinced of the law as transgressors.

Nobody would understand their need for salvation and dependence on the Creator if they are not alert of their INABILITY to keep the law.

Yes, the inability to keep it!

The author of the book of Romans in his 3rd chapter and section 3 mentions that whatsoever things the law says, it says to them who are under it that every mouth may be stopped and that the WHOLE WORLD may become guilty before God. So the one thing the law of God is perfect for is that it proves to all humans that they can not keep it with their own ability. Each of us keeps breaking one law or another time and again despite considering our mistakes better than others.
God, however, does not rate sin, all sin is sin before Him.

So the law of God shows us all our need for a SAVIOR, who has conquered the law and introduces us to a BETTER LAW, that conquers sin.

More on this in our next post!
